Q ONSET announces itself as twenty-three flayed vignettes plus a polemic and begins by documenting its production method: much of it was written while walking, texting fragments to the self, fighting autocomplete, shaking hands and a dog pulling at the leash, then transferred to a computer and massaged into shape. Composition is therefore split between moving body, phone and desktop rather than imagined as uninterrupted desk authorship.

The numbered fragments move through profanity as phonetics, grooming, attention, surveillance, stolen lighters, bodily pain, social crowds, memory and communication. The edits are sometimes left visible on purposeβ€”β€œscar the text”—so evidence of revision becomes evidence of a human process rather than something to be cleaned away.

Later sections turn conversation itself into something measurable and ask what kind of conversationalist the reader is. That makes the piece a useful bridge between Quantified Authority and ordinary social life: percentages and counts can describe a conversation, but description immediately threatens to become another behavioral dashboard.
