Distributed city

Los Angeles is not one backdrop in the JQD corpus. It is repeatedly decomposed into neighborhoods, streets, venues, studios, transit lines, pools, apartment courtyards, hillside routes and commercial micro-locations. The geographic intelligence therefore resembles a distributed civic network more than a landmark catalogue.

Neighborhood and microgeography

The current source audit identifies, among other names, Los Feliz, Beachwood Canyon, Hollywood, North Hollywood, East Hollywood, Northeast Los Angeles, Silver Lake, Echo Park, Highland Park, Koreatown, Little Tokyo, Pacific Palisades, Santa Monica and Venice. It also descends to named streets and sites: Hollywood Boulevard, Fountain Avenue, Hillhurst Avenue, Mattachine Stairs, Echo Park Lake, Tierra de la Culebra and The Altar Studios.

Infrastructure and ordinary portraiture

Roads, wires, pools, sidewalks, parking areas, apartment walls, trains and commercial interfaces can describe the city without using official monuments. This geographic mode aligns directly with JQD photography, where ordinary infrastructure repeatedly becomes portraiture.

Lost Eros overlay

Lost Eros does not function as a one-to-one pseudonym for Los Angeles. Instead the two maps leak into one another. Hollywood Hollows, Playa del Güey and other corpus-native localities preserve recognizable Southern California pressures while remaining explicitly invented places.

Photography

The photo practice makes the distributed city visible through power lines, rough stucco, reflected string lights, pool drains, railings and the geometry of private/public-ish courtyards. See Photographic modes / strains of expression.
