Three explicit formulations
| Date | Work | What song becomes |
|---|---|---|
| 2025-10-30 | A Song is Instructions for Itself | A portable instruction that survives altered performance, memory and transmission. |
| 2026-01-15 | a Song is a Kind of Engine | An operative mechanism rather than only a represented feeling. |
| 2026-08-13 | The Idea of a Cliche Expressing Itself Through Song | A transmission channel through which an idea or cliché can appear to act as its own speaker. |
Authorship without sovereignty
The cluster does not erase the maker. It repeatedly loosens the assumption that meaning begins as a complete private object and is then packaged into a song. A phrase can be discovered through sound; a listener can remember it incorrectly yet continue it; an existing cliché can become material rather than dead language. The song is therefore closer to an executing pattern than a sealed statement.
Cross-medium consequence
This model helps explain why lyrics migrate into prose and prose migrates into records throughout the corpus. The important event is not preservation of a canonical container but continuation of a pattern across bodies, media and contexts.

Musical genealogy
The “song as engine” idea gains specificity from the musical-language map. Jazz foregrounds performance as event; hip-hop foregrounds beat, flow and producer arrangement; rock foregrounds portable refrain and image; spoken word foregrounds the recipient hearing a voice in time. A song can “execute” differently depending on which grammar the listener activates.
