A teenage favorite returns as structure
In THIRTEEN DREAMS featuring “Abiogenesis” (2025), JQD watches the “Abiogenesis” visual repeatedly and decides that the song feels like “some evil Crip Walk shit.” He then names Q-Tip’s “Vivrant Thing” as the most obvious musical reference he hears in it and notes that the track had been his favorite song at fourteen.
Not merely RIYL
This is stronger than a later critic saying two recordings sound alike: the author identifies a specific track, a specific early listening memory and a specific later composition. “Vivrant Thing” was released by Q-Tip and received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Solo Performance. Electronic Lover
The connection becomes more useful when the completed Electronic Lover release explicitly describes “Abiogenesis” as an industrial hip-hop send-off. The genealogy therefore runs childhood listening → remembered rhythmic vocabulary → later self-recognition in a new work.
