Peak Arousal was released by Scaled Alps on 26 August 2024. The eight-track Bandcamp sequence is: Throwaway Lines, Elixir, Peak Arousal, Sirius, Venusian Furs, Ford Film, Autofiction and Instrumental Music.
Inside the writing
The album did not enter the corpus only after release. 2scale: Peak Arousal and A-G previewed the title track while the album was still “in industry circulation.” SCALED ALPS 'PEAK AROUSAL' FULL VISUAL ALBUM announced a visual-album version and discussed streaming and physical-release possibilities. INTERIOR HORRORFILM later explicitly recommended pairing the text with the record.
Continuities
Throwaway Lines later returns as a title in Let the Alpine Play, making the earlier record part of LTAP’s prehistory rather than a sealed prior phase. Xenochroma also belongs to the 2024 Scaled Alps field through Very High.

Musical reference field
The 2024 release apparatus explicitly places Peak Arousal amid an unusually broad musical field: jazz-funk; Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock and Weather Report; Scott Walker, David Bowie, Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave; Fiona Apple, Nina Simone, Deftones, Aphex Twin and other incompatible-seeming neighbors. The same source describes “thoughtful piano,” “the avant-within-pop” and “movements and moments in service of song.” This is early strong evidence for the later Scaled Alps plural approach.
