Illicit-commerce companion: Vice, Hustles & Illicit Economies follows drug sales, sex work, betting, counterfeit cash, protection and the conversion of vice into legal capital.

Promotion is a documentary register

The corpus does not maintain a clean wall between “the work” and the machinery that circulates it. Subscribe, Share, ADD TO CART, listener counts, Bandcamp links and merchandise can enter the same field as fiction, philosophy or lyric. Promotion becomes one more kind of document the work can quote, interrupt with or transform.

Conversion changes the reader’s role

A call to action is language that tries to make something happen outside the page. That makes commerce a particularly literal form of instruction: the text can route a reader toward buying, listening, sharing or leaving the medium altogether.

Anchors

  • ADVENT 1.1 embeds advertising and subscription inside artistic imperative.
  • No Music On turns interface and use-language into the work’s form.
  • I Drank What? mixes metrics, civic breakdown, fiction and LTAP commercial material.
  • The LTAP Owner’s Manual interrupts itself with a BLUE HELL merchandise page, making the commercial layer part of the physical document.
