Rules without a board
The Game turns perception into multiplayer performance. No instrument can conclusively solve whether the Rat is “really” there; instead the work uses strangers, embarrassment, conversation and consent as its measuring apparatus.
Recipient activation in miniature
The person approached becomes part of the work by answering. The procedure therefore prefigures later JQD interest in recipient activation: meaning changes when somebody else has to do something.
