Production fantasy
The source imagines recurrent improvisational vocal takes over an imperfect karaoke “Maggot Brain” being harvested, selected and fed into an industrial machine-learning apparatus that produces hit after hit. The exaggeration converts private practice into cartoon infrastructure.
Method underneath the joke
The surrounding work then reveals a much more ordinary technology: explicit statements of intention periodically checked against present practice. Sunshine Laboratory is therefore both fantasy automation and a comic mask over disciplined self-editing.
