Sergio
Sergio is a dog recently skunked and therefore conspicuously bath-fresh and soft. He sniffs Chiara, hacks, scoots across the carpet and later becomes the reason dangerous material has to be moved out of reach.
Chiara
Chiara is a “mewing lap-dunce,” rendered through exaggerated teeth, petting rhythm and carnivorous projection. Later the humans wonder whether she and Sergio would eat their corpses; the answer is essentially that Chiara might, Sergio is a good boy.
Not Molly’s alias
This Chiara is not the one-off name Molly chooses for herself in RETIRE HER. The recurrence is lexical, not a character connection.
