Bad infrastructure
Vacío takes the gate as a favor for Mr. Entertainment, who cannot make the booking. The ring ropes are too loose; the narrator falls through them and lands on cement. Mark Stain therefore condenses a recurring serial truth: performer skill cannot compensate for every failure of the infrastructure somebody else was paid to provide.
