MAGNUM HOPELESS appears in the early music writing as the name of a projected large-scale record. M.M.T. (Pre-Kingdom Come) describes M.M.T. as the latest “prefiguration” of a soon-to-be-realized 69-track odyssey under that title.
From future project to recurring condition
The title survives even when the projected 69-track object is not presented as a stable, completed album in the later archive. By the time of the EGOTERRORISM liner book, “MAGNUM HOPELESS” appears as the closing phrase of the Advance Remarks page, attached to a 52-track work that openly theorizes incompletion.
Relation to EGOTERRORISM
The safest reading is not that EGOTERRORISM simply “is” the earlier proposed album under a new name; the source record does not make that identity claim. What is documentable is continuity of scale, title language, M.M.T., speculative practice and the insistence that a sprawling record can remain structurally unfinished.
