Suzi Q

Suzi is remembered through desire, danger, her house and the news that arrives on June fourth. The line that she will be fine “in her own sort of way” is immediately grounded in lineage: Rocket Ronnie “hadn’t raised a weakling.”

Rocket Ronnie Mulligan

Ronnie functions both as father and as inherited mythology. His nickname gives Suzi a family history that sounds already halfway to sports, crime or pulp legend.

Gerta Vollenweid

Gerta is Principal Homicide Investigator for the Lost Eros Police Department, seven years in the role. Her name is routinely turned into “Greta” on Starbucks cups, a tiny running collision between personhood and administrative legibility.

Expiration Park

Suzi lives in Expiration Park; Gerta drives there in the city’s last Crown Vic Interceptor. The neighborhood therefore stops being only a gazetteer entry and becomes an active procedural location.

Police language as world-building

P.H.I., L.E.P.D., PC 187, 10-56 and the physical Crown Vic give the invented city a bureaucratic texture strong enough to compete with the lyrical prose around it. Lost Eros is not just named; it has radio codes, aging fleet vehicles and specialist job titles.
