Three different kinds of voice

The corpus repeatedly collapses distinctions between voice as person, voice as recording and voice as perceptual event. That collapse is not itself a clinical claim; it is one of the places where medium and mind become difficult to separate.

Brian Wilson

It's Mental Health Awareness Month Somewhere quotes an interview in which Brian Wilson discusses auditory hallucinations, then immediately quotes Wilson celebrating other people's voices as his favorite things on records. A symptom and an aesthetic appetite occupy adjacent slots.

Quantum Entendre

White noise almost becomes language. Refrigerator hum gets frequency and pitch. The mind reaches for a word that is “almost — / not quite” there. The work names ideas of reference, pareidolia and delusion while continuing to make art out of exactly the perceptual threshold it questions.

Transmission problem

This links directly to Transmission / Recipient Activation: when does an incoming signal have a sender? When does noise become message? When does a voice belong to another person, a recording, a machine, memory or the perceiver? The corpus repeatedly refuses to solve that question at a single level.
