Enumeration is a form
The corpus often numbers the container before it explains the contents. ADVENT, PAGODA BENZ, Scaled Alps 2.x and SPACE FLYING TIGER look like versioned systems. Sixteen Shatterdream, Disemvowal (16 Bits) and Night Blooming Jasmine (26 Dimensions) use the count as the visible frame of the text itself.
Sequence creates expectation
A numbered sequence tells the reader that another unit can follow, even when it never does. 001 implies 002; 1.1 implies a release tree; WALK 00001 implies an archive of walks. This is closely related to Anticipatory Archive: enumeration can manufacture the feeling of a system larger than the surviving evidence.
Corrupted sequence
Sevened begins with section 1, drops to an “Invisible Interstitial” numbered 0, then resumes 2 through 7. The sequence is legible precisely because it is wrong. The Key is 3 similarly counts, miscounts, restarts and subdivides until enumeration becomes comedy and rhythm.
Records as counted objects
EGOTERRORISM is 52 tracks; LTAP is 16. EGOTERRORISM adds a further complication: platform requirements split the streaming edition, so track numbers differ between the preferred object and the platform-mediated releases. Sequence is therefore not merely metadata; it becomes part of the conflict between artwork and container.
Late statement
The Idea of a Cliche Expressing Itself Through Song offers the compact phrase “Sequences and subsequences.” By then, serial thinking has moved from publication architecture into the sound of the prose itself.
